Your salt is over the target. Salt does not wear off: the only way to lower it is to drain part of the water and refill.
Pounds = gallons × (target − reading) × 8.34 ÷ 1,000,000, since a gallon of water weighs about 8.34 lb. Hayward’s AquaRite manual gives 2,700 to 3,400 ppm, 3,200 the best.
Use pool salt over 99% sodium chloride. Wait 10 to 14 days before adding salt to new plaster.
